The Mid-Coast Region of Maine is generally considered to be that stretch of spectacular landscape between Brunswick and Bucksport. Although one could drive between these two cities in less than two hours, one could spend two lifetimes exploring the myriad back roads and thousands of miles of incredible coastline that graces this emminently liveable piece of real estate.
If it's not the geography that excites you, perhaps the fresh lobster, or incredible organic strawberries, blueberries or even wine. It's all grown right here. Did we mention the creativity that seems to spring from every corner of this land? Monhegan Island is famous for its' artists colony, and of course the Wyeth family has deep roots here. The Farnsworth Art Museum (We are right across from their sculpture garden) is internationaly recognized for its' collection of American artists. You can even see glass being blown at several local galleries and creative artists working in fabric, metal and wood abound. The Center for Furniture Craftsmanship is turning out phenomenal artists whose work stretches the boundaries of traditional furniture making. Of course it wouldn't be right to omit the fact that Penobscot Bay is recognized as one of the premier cruising grounds in the world.
